It is not difficult to train your dog to excrete outdoor or in a prepared place. Always follow the procedure related to dog’s routine strictly.

If you are training your puppy in room or cage, put pages of newspaper at a corner and place food and water around there as puppy are likely to excrete immediately after having food. Therefore, as they are full, bring them to the papers. Every time they excrete on the paper, give them compliment to let them know that they are doing right. If they are excreting outside the papers, bring them to the papers immediately.

When your dog do something right, give them compliment. Do not punish him if you do not see he is doing wrong as animal cannot link punishment with past action. Be careful on punishment. While you are training him about toileting, a loud scold is recommended. If you give him serious punishment, he will become scared of everything and all the time.

When he is able to excrete for 100%, he will be able to stay out from cage. However, you should carefully watch him out to be sure that he will not start to excrete on other areas.

If you do not want to use papers, you should prepare a time to take puppy out when they wake up, take him to a place you want, let him excrete and place him there. If he excretes, give him compliment for his fast-learning. Bring him to the same place every 2 hours, soon he will know what you want.

Beyond waking up and after having meals, dogs can feel to urinate in other time which is after hard playing. Take him to paper or outdoor immediately after playing.

Do not forget that your puppy is social animal who wants your care and love. Therefore, you and your family should be patient in training him. Do not let the training cause any pain to anyone, no matter how you do.

If you take a full growth dog to stay with u in house, you probably need different training method as they have already been familiar with other training methods. Using papers is probably difficult especially for untrained dogs. For a puppy, you can use papers or taking him to a prepared place. For an older dog, take him out from home every 2 hours and give him compliment every time he does right. If an older dog excretes inside your home, scold him while he is doing so, do not hit his nose to express your anger because the dog will not learn anything from the action. To train old dog probable takes as much or longer time to train puppy, but finally he will respond to your compliment. After the training is completed, take him outdoor 2-3 times a day.

One important responsibility as an owner is cleaning after your dog excretes. In some place, you are legalized to do so. In some other place, your common sense will tell you that your dog’s health depends on his environmental hygiene as germs or parasite will be discharged out with the excrement. Without regular cleaning, the germ will get back to the dog and other dogs.

If your dog use your backyard or prepared area, train him to use a concrete or hardened area instead of grass or others which are difficult to clean and eliminate the excrement.
